What’s Your Favourite Self-Published Book Of 2012?

Suw Charman-Anderson who writes for Forbes would like to know What’s Your Favourite Self-Published Book Of 2012?

She says:

"As 2012 draws to a close, it’s time to ask you, dear reader, what your favourite self-published book of 2012 is. What have you read that set your toes on fire? What gripped you? Excited you? Had you reading under the covers by torchlight (or kindlelight?) until three in the morning on a school night? I want to know!"

If you would like to nominate an odd boy, volume two (which is the only book we published in 2012), you're quite welcome to do so. Please take a look at Suw's Blog, or go straight to her form to make your entry.  Please abide by her rules:

1. You’re only allowed to suggest one title.
2. That title must have been published this year.
3. If you are a self-published author, please be honourable and do not nominate your own books. Feel free to nominate someone else’s, though.
4. There are no prizes, and I won’t necessarily mention who got the most votes even if a clear forerunner emerges.

If you'd like to make a nomination, please go here.

... the explanation of the tuning of the two basses alone is worth the price of the book

"One of the things I love about the book is Doc’s ability to weave the technical aspects of music and writing process in such a simple manner as to be easily understood by musician and fan alike. In my opinion, the explanation of the tuning of the two basses alone is worth the price of the book."

Ted Stilles, talking about 'An Odd Boy, Volume II', by Doc Togden

Volume II of an odd boy is published by Aro Books worldwide.

Excerpts can be read on Doc Togden's Facebook fanpage and at anoddboy.com

Odd Boy Blues - Commercial - Ted Stilles

Time for a commercial break. Ted Stilles talks about an odd boy . This is the radio commercial available on Youtube and Soundcloud.

"I've been reading the new offering from Aro Books Worldwide, Doc Togden's "An odd boy volume two". It tells the true story of the blues band, Savage Cabbage. In the late 60's they were preparing to fill the void left by the breakup of Cream. Ahead of their time and filled with dreams it appears life had other plans for them...Told from the point of view of a young englishman lost in the blues, its a riveting look inside the world of four young lads trying to find their way during the height of the psychedelic blues era. A must read for the artist in all of us." — Ted Stilles

Tune in to Blues Corner Radio

We are very happy to be sponsoring Blues Corner Radio, the radio station run by Joe Cupp AKA JC Spinner.

Joe Cupp grew up in Cincinnati listening to all types of music but very few stations played R&B & Blues music. WCIN in Cincinnati and WDAO in Dayton is where Joe heard songs he knew would be hits. He was lucky enough to see several great musicians as King Records brought many to Cincinnti - R&B artists like Joe Tex, Valerie Carr, Roy Brown, Jack Dupree, Otis Williams & the Charms, Hank Ballard & the Midnighters, Ivory Joe Hunter, Johnny "Guitar" Watson and James Brown just to name a few.

Joe wants to bring to you all these songs that he has collected from the old great songs to the latest soul and blues, which is why he started Blues Corner Radio. Although the show is centered around slues and soul if he like the song he will play it. This show is all about new and old music and Joe's love for what has been touching his soul all these years, he appreciates all the artists who continue to carry the torch to many generations to come.

Joe also has a very musical family and many friends who are musicians, he still loves to jam with them when he get the chance.

Forthcoming 2013: The Legendary Rabbit of Death

The Rabbit of Death lives in the magnificent Cave of Everlasting Terror. He rides each day on his huge motorcycle to bring a little chaos to the lives of rabbits in need of change. They meet him with trepidation, as he can be gruff and strange – but he is a kindly figure even though he has a strange and startling way of helping. The rabbits he helps join him in his mysterious world – becoming Rabbits of: Special Powers, Poetry, Destiny, Laughter, Rainbows, and Flyingness. They work together with the Fox Family from Finland to rid Penarth of the foul and horrible chain-smoking rats Morgoth and Sowgoth Gizzardswill – and their vile vindictive nephews.

These stories overflow with humour, word-play, and weird surprises. They carry a heart-warming message: Everyone has skills and qualities that can be developed. Everyone can learn to be kind, creative, and exciting.

Harry Potter meets Monty Python when nine-year-old Ræchel Togden’s dad agrees to be her typist and Photoshop facilitator. Ræchel Togden’s imagination runs wild when her dad—being an author and artist—enables her to develop stories and illustrations beyond the limits of her age – yet her creations remain entirely hers.
