It happened when he challenged me with respect to giving my word. That was the only subject on which I would stand my ground and say “When I give my word, I keep to my word – and nothing stops me other than death or serious illness.”

Künzang Dorje Rinpoche had never seen me that serious before – and he was pleased by it. I think that was when our relationship began. It was my expression of honour, in giving my word.”
