Relaxing into Meditation : Direct experience of who we are

"By letting go of thought we can discover the space of mind without thought. Through Letting Go the arising and dissolving of conceptual mind can be revealed as a wave that surges and breaks on the surface of the deep, still ocean of fundamental mind. Through discovering the quietness of fundamental mind we can gain direct experience of who we are, what we are and where we are, rather than trying to discover this through the ebb and flow of concept."

An Interview With a Welsh Buddhist Publisher

AmeriCymru is a social network for the Welsh, ex-pats, persons of Welsh descent and cymruphiles. AmeriCymru is the home of the West Coast Eisteddfod.

AmeriCymru talks to ’ö-Dzin Tridral of Aro Books worldwide, a Welsh printing press specializing in publishing works in the Aro Tradition of Nyingma Buddhism.

“Our two most recent publications are Relaxing into Meditation by Ngakma Nor'dzin and An Odd Boy (Volume One) by Doc. Togden. Relaxing into Meditation is an accessible introduction to meditation which can enable someone with no knowledge of the subject to approach meditation via practices of relaxation. An Odd Boy is a memoir from the period of the British Blues Boom of the 1960s and 1970s. Interwoven with this is the view that everyone has the possibility of being an artist and of appreciating life as art.”

Should I Meditate?

Illustration: Oscar Ramos Orozco
'Should I Meditate?' is a wonderfully simple article on the subject of meditation, written by Scott McDowell and published on The 99%.

Scott's advice includes:

'Establish a routine. Many people meditate in the morning when they wake up, or at night before bed. The big thing is making it a regular part of your day. You can start by sitting for just a few minutes. In the beginning, it's feels very difficult to be still.  Work your way up 20-30 minutes, or more. But remember, meditation is all about consistency; it's much better to do 5 minutes each day than an hour once a week. '

You say you want a resolution ...

"You say you want a resolution"
— misquoting 'Revolution', Lennon/McCartney

Resolving to meditate for 10 minutes per day would be more helpful in our lives than many other resolutions that we could make.  10 minutes per day is also a resolution that we can keep.

Relaxing into Meditation : Featured in Life Positive

Life Positive, described as India's leading spiritual magazine has been published in India since 1996. The June 2011 edition features an article on Relaxing into Meditation by Ngakma Nor'dzin.

In her article, Ngakma Nor'dzin says:

"Over time, the moments of experience of mind without thought will lengthen and occur more frequently and this spaciousness of mind will sparkle in our every day lives. We will start to notice our habit patterns and cease to be their victim. We will discover that we have a choice about who we are and how we live. We will discover emotion as naked energy and our sensory experiences will become enlivened. We will become more open, patient, tolerant and kind. We will discover open appreciation and awaken to our natural state of well-being."
