Aro Books worldwide - worldwide distribution - 2022

Aro Books worldwide Spotlight
In a previous article I explained how we use Lulu Press, Inc. to produce all out books via print on demand.

As a result of this, all our books are available via our Spotlight page at Lulu (http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/arobooksworldwide).

Not everyone will know about this web address and many people will be looking for books via popular sites online.

In order to make our books available as widely as possible, we make use of Lulu's distribution service which means that books are available from many different places.

Tracts of the Sun
for example is available at Lulu, as well as Amazon UK, Amazon US, Barnes and Noble, Waterstones and so forth.

Books may be available in a variety of electronic forms as well as paperback.

We don't know—and fortunately don't need to know —how this all works behind the scenes.  All we know is that when we're happy with the book we can simply press a button to approve worldwide distribution for any of the Aro Books worldwide books.

The distribution process can take up to eight weeks. Once the process is completed, the book is available in all your favourite online bookstores.  it will also be in catalogues used by bricks-and-mortar bookstores too.

As a bonus, Wikipedia keeps a page of book sources by ISBN.  This shows all known sources for a book.

So if you wanted to find Tracts of the Sun in obscure places, try Wikipedia BookSources.

Aro Books worldwide and Lulu Press - 2022

Lulu Logo

Aro Books worldwide is the print on demand publisher for the Aro gTér Lineage of Vajrayana Buddhism.

We publish books by authors from the Lineage and books related to Buddhist practice. Our profits go to Sang-ngak-chö-dzong, the UK Charity of the Aro gTér Lineage, which supports work such as the Drala Jong retreat centre.

Print on demand means that our books are available direct from a printer and anyone can buy them whenever they wish. This keeps things simple for us as we don't hold any stock.  Books are printed when they are required.

In order to manage the print on demand process, we user Lulu Press, Inc., based in North Carolina, USA.  We have been using their services since February 2009.

Lulu gives us the ability to create and revise our books whenever we wish and they maintain a catalogue of our books for sale.  When a book is to be printed the order goes to a printer as close as possible to the delivery address.  Because of this, orders for the USA are printed in the USA and orders for the UK are printed in the UK.  This helps to minimise shipping distance and time.

Our current catalogue of books is on our Spotlight page (http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/arobooksworldwide). You can browse this page or search for specific titles or authors.

For example, if you wanted to see all the books on the series 'an odd boy', you could search for those words and see a smaller listing of books (http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/arobooksworldwide?searchTerms=an+odd+boy).

New titles are added from time to time.  This depends on our authors, proofreaders and people working on cover design and book layout.  In late 2021 and 2022 we published:

Most books are available in paperback and a variety of electronic formats

We look forward to publishing more books with Lulu in 2023.

Ngak'chang Rinpoche's 70th birthday fundraiser for Sang Ngak Cho Dzong

(Photograph taken in Himachal Pradesh in 1981. See Aro Encyclopaedia)

༄Ngak’chang Rinpoche will be 70 this year and it has been 50 years since he first journeyed to the Himalayas — where he became the disciple of Kyabjé Düd’jom Rinpoche Jig’drèl Yeshé Dorje.

Kyabjé Düd’jom Rinpoche asked Ngak’chang Rinpoche to establish the gö kar chang lo’ dé (sangha of ngakpas and ngakmas) in the West.

To this end Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen have spent almost 30 years saving to establish a retreat centre.

They now need help to complete the project by building a shrine hall and residential facilities for Drala Jong.

Drala Jong emphasises the integration of practice with everyday working life. and is unique in presenting Vajrayana in terms of the Art of Life.

Ngak’chang Rinpoche says:

“For my birthday this year, I'm asking for donations to Sang-ngak Chö-dzong. I've chosen this charity because its mission means a great deal to me, and I hope that you will consider contributing as a way of celebrating with me. Every little will help me reach the goal. I've included information about Sang-ngak-chö-dzong below.

Sang-ngak-chö-dzong supports Vajrayana Buddhist practice and teachings in the West, and in particular the non-monastic traditions of Himalayan Vajrayana. Projects include: providing schooling, housing and medical care for Tibetans in exile; making Buddhist teachings accessible to Westerners and the support of Vajrayana art and craft.”

If you would like to contribute to this endeavour, please visit the Facebook Donation Page (https://www.facebook.com/donate/1965323250326132/10159916574459334/)

Ngak'chang Rinpoche, writing as Ngakpa Chögyam and Doc Togden, is the author of ‘an odd boy’, ‘Goodbye Forever’, ‘Rays of the Sun’, ‘Shock Amazement’, and other books published by Aro Books worldwide

Celebrating 20 Years of Lulu - 20% off

Lulu (who deal with all our printing and distribution) have been in business for 20 years. We've been with them for about 12 of those years.

For their 20th anniversary they are offering 20% off until 11th February.

The code is 20FOR20 and a good place to start might be with Aro Books worldwide's spotlight page: https://www.lulu.com/spotlight/arobooksworldwide

All profits go to Sang-ngak-chö-dzong and thence in support of Drala Jong our Retreat Centre in Wales.

(Drala Jong is currently recovering from Storm Arwen which devastated a large area of woodland. There is an appeal for financial help. Any contributions would be gratefully received).
